Yeah so, me and the bro saw Kung Fu Panda today. And I have to say, I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Great animation, music and humor. With movies like Shrek and Madagascar, a lot of the humor and jokes seemed really.. contrived. Forced, even. But definitely not here. Everything just sorta flowed.

I was honestly skeptical at first, but I'm really glad I decided to take him to go see it. The intro was seriously excellent. I wouldn't have minded if the entire movie was in that style. It actually reminded me a lot of an episode of Samurai Jack, which was neato.

When we saw it, there weren't that many people in the theatre, but, during Po's and Shifu's fight over the dumplings, me and my bro were cracking the fuck up. I was even tearing. I think it's just the sheer rediculousness of that training method that really got us, along with the fact that it was just totally funny.

Oh and Tai Lung's escape from prison? Kinda fuckin' epic.

I just.. I can't stop reading.



I'm not ashamed to admit that I wouldn't mind owning some of that stuff..



Edit-- also, saw half/most of both Ratatouille and Surf's Up the other day. I liked both, but I think I preferred the former. Now I have to see the whole thing.

So I realize that I hate what this place has become.

I used to love deviantART. When I first started out, it was really cool, because I guess the community was a lot smaller, and people actually cared about each other. Everyone commented, everyone shared and played nice. The +fav system didn't matter all that much. Neither did pageviews.

But now, what? He who has the most pageviews wins? The most +favs on a deviation-- regardless if it's a direct policy violation? It's pathetic, it really is.

For instance, the 'work' in my gallery with the most +favs, views and comments is this. I made the goddamnd thing in.. I don't know, twenty minutes? (About seventeen of those twenty being used to find a good picture of Tumnus.) And it's not even my work. It's two promotional images thrown together in Photoshop, with an arrow on each, accompanied by text. As of this very moment, it has 2,386 views. That's fucking insane. I'm sorry, but.. no, it's not worth it. I'll be taking it down soon. The thing has 69 comments and 89 favorites. Why? I don't understand it.


DeviantART has become a huge popularity contest, where he with the bigger number wins. There's naked chicks fucking everywhere (don't even get me started), the same artists make the front page, and the emphasis on badly-drawn anime is staggering. Everyone just +favs and that's it. Nobody cares anymore.




I just don't get it. Maybe because I don't care about numbers. Maybe because I care about art.
